DLS · Driver Shift Start (QR Sticker → /shift)
How a truck driver self-starts a shift in seconds — no password, no app, no enrollment.
Every truck cab carries a printed QR sticker. The driver scans it with their phone camera, lands on /shift, picks their name + the truck + (optionally) trailer and carrier, taps START SHIFT, and they are operationally live. No password, no app, no enrollment. The platform follows the truck, not the user account.
- Driver opens phone camera and scans the sticker on the truck door
- Phone opens /shift in the browser — already on the right tenant
- Driver picks their name (or types it if they're a sub), picks the truck, optional trailer + carrier
- Driver taps START SHIFT
- Truck appears on the dispatch board · driver can now receive lifecycle taps
Why this mattersTruck identity is the operational continuity key, not the user account. The platform must not require enterprise auth from a driver who's about to wear gloves. The QR is the physical bridge from a parked truck to live operations.
What happens next
- Drive the assignment — tap ENROUTE_TO_LOAD when leaving
- If dispatch hasn't issued one yet, the truck simply sits ready
- End of day · tap Sign out — leaves the truck clean for the next driver
Admins print the sticker at /admin/dls/shift-qr — one tenant, one URL, one QR. Stickers go on cab doors. A worn sticker is reprintable in 30 seconds.
