Daily Driver Vehicle Inspection (DVIR)
Walk the truck before you roll. PASS / FAIL / N/A each item. The system handles severity.
The Daily DVIR is the driver's pre-trip walk-around. It exists so the driver, Shop, and Dispatch are working from the same picture of the truck before it leaves the yard. It is not paperwork — it is the moment the driver says 'this is what I see' and the Shop hears it the same minute.
- Open Field · tap 'Trucking · Daily DVIR'
- Type or pick your name · roster autocompletes after your first inspection
- Pick your truck unit · plate / VIN / odometer / hour meter prefill
- Walk the truck — front, driver side, rear, passenger side. Mark each item PASS, FAIL, or N/A
- If you have a trailer, tap 'Add trailer' and walk that too
- Anything you marked FAIL needs a short note (10+ characters) and a photo if you have one
- Sign and submit
Why this mattersAn honest DVIR keeps the crew safe and keeps the truck on the road. A real defect caught at 6:30 a.m. is a Shop ticket. The same defect caught at 50 mph is a tow bill, a lost day, or worse.
What happens next
- Shop sees your defects grouped by truck within seconds
- Severity is set automatically — drivers don't classify · the system does
- If anything is Out of Service, Dispatch reassigns the load
- If it's a Monitor item, Shop schedules a repair window
- Your name stays on the inspection · accountability, not blame
Common mistakes
- Marking N/A on items the truck actually has (axle without spare, missing triangle)
- Skipping the trailer walk-around when pulling one
- FAIL with no note · Shop can't act on 'something is wrong'
- Holding the inspection until you're already on the road
Use the 'Why this matters' tip inside the form for each section — short coaching, no compliance language.
